E-Blast: Follow Up: Access to the Child Abuse Registry for Licensing Purposes

December 14, 2016 3:08 PM

Greetings CPA Providers,

This is a follow up to e-blast regarding the Access to the Child Abuse Registry for Licensing Purposes Memorandum. This memo created the opportunity for Georgia providers to submit a CPSIS screening request when completing a home study on prospective placements for children NOT in state's custody.

Providers seeking to foster or adopt children in DFCS custody are still required to complete the CPS screening process via GA+SCORE. Due to this memo, several providers have sent requests to the registry to screen new adults in previously approved DFCS foster homes or sent a request for their annual CPS screening. These requests will be denied and marked invalid.

Providers should submit requests to the registry under 3 conditions:

1. To screen newly hired staff;

2. Annually upon hire date for existing staff; or

3. To screen prospective foster/adoptive families for private adoptions (required as a part of their RCCL licensing).

Thanks,

Safety Management and Placement Guidance Team
