E-Blast: Change in CAPS: New Referral Process Effective 8/14/17

September 26, 2017 11:34 AM

Dear Providers,

On Monday, August 14, 2017, ALL counties (statewide) began to utilize a new referral process for CAPS, Early Head Start/Head Start and Pre-K. A single form is now used for initial referrals and changes related to CAPS, Early Head Start, Head Start and Pre-K programs. This new document (Child Welfare Child Care Services and Early Education Form) will replace the current Child Care Application and Referral for Child in DFCS Custody (Form 57) and the Early Childhood Education Form.

DECAL facilitated a webinar on 8.9.17 to support best practices related to CAPS referrals, forms, and case changes. If you missed the webinar, please use the following link: https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/98856375415627266. Click register to view the webinar.

For your convenience, the documents listed below are posted to GA+SCORE for your use:
  1. Child Welfare Child Care Services and Early Education Form
  2. GA DECAL CAPS Provider Published Rate Form (Form 61)
  3. Family Asset Certification (Form 602)-Child Protective Services Only
  4. Pre-K Referral Form
  5. CAPS Child Welfare Referral and Change Guide
Please direct inquiries related to Pre-K, Early Head Start and Head Start programs to the DFCS Early Childhood Collaboration Program Manager at early.childhood@dhs.ga.gov.

Thank you.
