E-Blast: Embark Summer Precollegiate Program (formerly CollegeBound) - only 50 slots available!

Greetings Partners of the Division of Family and Children Services:

I am writing to let you know about a summer opportunity for high school students in foster care. This year, with support from GA RYSE, UGA and Savannah State University will be hosting a program on our campuses. The Embark Summer Program is designed for young people in foster care who are rising 10-11th graders to spend time on campus and learn about college life. A flyer and the application is attached here. Only 50 slots between the two programs are available. More information, along with a downloadable application, can be found on the Fanning Institute's website.

Students can decide which campus that they would like to visit:

  • University of Georgia - June 9-13 in Athens (25 student capacity)
  • Savannah State University - June 16-20 in Savannah (25 student capacity)

How to apply (please note - the application process has changed this year.  See instructions below):

Application Instructions:

  • Please complete the entire application, including the brief reference section.
  • Applications must be received by May 15.
  • All applications will be submitted to the JW Fanning Institute for Leadership Development, regardless of whether the applicant plans to attend the program at SSU or UGA. Notifications will be made on a rolling basis.
  • All applications and any supporting materials should be mailed in one envelope or pdf file.
