Children's Healthcare of Atlanta has been experiencing an increase in the numbers of asymptomatic children in the metro area for whom DFCS is requesting a COVID test as part of a “wellness check” before being able to place a child. Please be aware that CHOA does not do COVID testing on asymptomatic children.
All providers: The emergency room medical directors for all three Children’s campuses have developed a protocol based off of CDC guidelines and feedback from the medical community. You may find it useful as a reminder of COVID symptoms and of best practice for quarantine and/or treatment for individuals with and without confirmed exposure.
Metro providers: If your agency needs a COVID test prior to placing a child, we are recommending that your case managers utilize the Children’s Urgent Care Clinic at Satellite Boulevard, which is more equipped to do COVID testing on asymptomatic children.
