E-Blast: Interviewing and Analysis: Assessment Trainings -- Schedule Updated

November 14, 2016 5:19 PM

Dear Providers:

The schedule of upcoming Assessment Trainings posted to GA+SCORE has changed. The Athens meeting scheduled for November 18th will be rescheduled to 2017, a date to be determined. Registration is currently open for the December 2nd class in Atlanta and the January 26th class in Savannah.

Our training focus is to build on the information shared previously and to increase assessor knowledge and ability to produce an objective evaluation that demonstrates the caregiver’s capacity to provide for the safety and well-being of children in foster care. Caregiver assessment is a skilled task. Assessors must have the technical and analytical skills necessary to conduct insightful interviews, assess information and render a supported conclusion regarding the caregiver’s current and predicted parental capacity. This workshop will address foundational interviewing skills, assessing parental capacity and diminishing the influences of interviewer’s dynamics on the outcome of the assessment. Participants will also have the opportunity to process their caregiver assessment case issues using a Peer Consultation Model.

CEUs will be provided this year as well as a certificate of completion. The training is offered to assist contractors with meeting their requirement to participate in at least five (5) hours of training on conducting family assessments and writing foster home evaluations and/or Relative Care Assessments during the contract year.

Thank you.
