The Division has chronically struggled with placement locating and matching. We have the opportunity to increase expertise and streamline processes at all levels. As many providers are aware, adequate placement resources pose a challenge in child welfare nationally. As Georgia’s foster care population increases, staff turnover and experience levels becomes more challenging, which in turn affects placement options. This causes hoteling, out of county placements, lengthy stays in high level placements, and placement instability.
With that said, the PRO Unit is excited to present a new training to providers contracted for MWO children. We will conduct this training at different locations across the state. It is intended for directors, case managers, and any role responsible for admissions and discharges.
There will also be time allotted towards the end of the training for any DFCS county staff in attendance to staff cases with agencies that have open bed space.
