E-Blast: Foster Parent Survey Launches Statewide

March 14, 2024 9:47 AM

Good morning,

The Georgia Department of Human Services' Division of Family & Children Services has contracted with an independent organization, the Butler Institute for Families at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work, to conduct the Georgia Foster and Adoptive Family Assessment. The assessment includes a survey, focus groups, and interviews that will give Georgia's foster and adoptive families the opportunity to share their experience and recommendations within the child welfare system.

Our goal for this assessment is to improve foster and adoptive family recruitment and retention throughout the state. We plan to use the information gathered throughout the assessment to facilitate active collaboration between public and private agencies and child welfare leaders as we work together to identify the priorities and needs within Georgia's child welfare system.

On Feb. 29, 2024, the first part of the assessment, the foster parent survey, launched statewide. All foster parents with a valid email address received a personalized survey link to complete. The survey will close March 22, 2024. Please help us increase the survey response rate by communicating with your agency's foster families.

As you connect with your agency's foster parents:
  • Let them know this is a great opportunity to share their experiences and recommendations.
  • Encourage them to check their email for the personalized survey link from no-reply@qualtrics.du.edu.
  • Let them know the survey is legitimate and encourage them to complete the survey.
  • Remind them not to share the survey link with anyone else.
If foster parents can't find their survey, please have them check their spam folder. If foster parents have any questions, please have them email caregivers@dhs.ga.gov for assistance. Learn more about the Georgia Foster and Adoptive Family Assessment here
