Life Coach Training Courses

Upcoming Training: Sept. 8, 2016

Back by popular demand is our Life Coach Certification Training!!!  This year we are excited about partnering with GA RYSE (formally known as our State ILP Program) to offer this training during the annual Teens R 4 me conference.

Specialty RBWO programs providing Independent Living and/or Transitional Living Programs or Maternity and Parenting Support Programs are required to have Life Coaches who have attended a certification course. Life Coach certification is a one-day training facilitated in partnership with GA RYSE Program and the Office of Provider Management. Certification includes a review of state IL policies, programs and applicable RBWO Standards. This training is not an annual requirement, therefore, if you have already attended, your certification is still valid. Due to limited space we are unable to accommodate participants not required to attend this training.

For more information on Life Coach training requirements, please review the FY 2017 RBWO Minimum Standards under Transitional Living, Independent Living and Maternity and Parenting Support Programs.

The certification course will be held:

September 8, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia

4355 Ashford Dunwoody Road

Atlanta, Georgia 30346

Please be advised that participants are required to attend the entire training to obtain the 8-hour training certification certificate.

Train-the-Trainer Sessions - 2014

The Georgia ILP IDA Match Savings program has adopting a new financial education curriculum, Keys to Your Financial Future. Keys to Your Financial Future is a module based, in-depth financial education curriculum that was developed specifically for youth in care. This curriculum will replace the Banking on Our Future curriculum and is a requirement for youth to participate in the IDA Match Savings program. As part of the program revisions, providers will be trained in facilitating and teaching this curriculum. Training materials will be provided at the training session.

Space is limited to 150 slots. Each program site is limited to two representatives. This training is specifically designed for direct services staff (HSP/Life Coaches) responsible for providing life skills training to residents. Administrators and supervisors who do not provide direct service should not attend this training. This Train-the-Trainer is a one-day training and it is imperative that participants are available for the entire day or they will not receive certification.

Atlanta: Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel (February 5th) 9am-4pm

Macon: Macon Mariott (February 24th) 9am-4pm

The IDA Financial Online Training site continues to remain available for use at http://www.bankingonourfuture.org/. This is a public site; if you are experiencing difficulties with accessing the site, please contact Victoria Salzman at vsalzman@maac4kids.org.

It is IDA survey month. Youth with an account should be taking a survey this month and will receive a stipend deposited into their account upon completion. Please see the directions below and have youth complete the survey as soon as possible. Please contact Victoria at vsalzman@maac4kids.org with any questions.

Survey Directions:
Visit the JCYOI - Opportunity Passport (TM) Participant Survey - Login page at https://webserv2.metishost.com/YouthOpps/Login.aspx. The youth's user ID is their Survey ID. If they cannot remember their Survey ID, please contact Victoria at vsalzman@maac4kids.org or Kenneth McClendon at makenneth@dhr.state.ga.us. If this is the youth's first time taking this survey, they will not have a password. They will simply enter their survey/user id and hit log in and it will instruct them to create a password.

Surveys need to be completed every April and October, and the youth will receive reminders to do so. They will receive $30 in their account every time they complete their IDA surveys.
